Iowa Total Care's generous sponsorship will again fund the Food Bank of Siouxland’s Mobile Pantry: Food to You truck. The truck picks up food donations from local retailers and wholesalers and delivers the donations to member agencies for their food pantries and feeding programs. Iowa Total Care also funds the Food Bank’s BackPack Program: Food for Kids.
“Iowa Total Care values our strong partnership with the Food Bank of Siouxland,” said Mitch Wasden, Iowa Total Care Plan President & CEO. “We are committed to providing focused, compassionate, and coordinated care to the Siouxland community. The Food Bank of Siouxland is breaking down the barriers of food access and really helping those in need.”
“The need for food assistance in Siouxland has not diminished since last year. If anything, it has increased more,” stated Food Bank of Siouxland Associate Executive Director Valerie Petersen. “To know that we have the support of Iowa Total Care, and we can continue serving these areas because of their support, is a huge relief. We are excited to continue collaborating with Iowa Total Care over the next year and are so grateful for their ongoing care for those facing food insecurity in Siouxland.”
Iowa Total Care is hosting a “Green to Go” outreach and providing fresh, free produce at the Siouxland Community Health Center’s “Rock the Center” community celebration at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th at the corner of 10th & Pierce.
The fresh produce is generously being provided by Hy-Vee and available to families attending the “Rock the Center” event. There are no requirements for who can receive the produce and families are encouraged to take as much as they need. Produce distributed includes: green peppers, potatoes, apples, pears, and jalapenos.
